Blues music
Blues Blues music or Blues is a form of jazz music, generally melancholic in
mood and characterized by a threestanze, twelve- bar from, in which the
firse two lines are closely similar, with frequent introduction of dissonant
or indeterminate chords. Growing out of the"field hollers"and work song of
the southern AmericanNegroes, and essentially avocal expression, the blues
first came to popular attention throuth the publication of the
orchestrations of W.C.Handy, ca.1909. In 1924 imitative incorporas of blues
forms appeared in George Gershwins's well- received "Rhapsody in blue." and
since then blues influences have appeared in numerous symphonic works, as
well as in the production of Tin Pan Alley. Probably the best known, if not
most typical, blues is W.C. Handy's "St. Louis Blues"
